DAN HUBBARD (Solo) (Central IL) – Americana, Singer-Songwriter, Folk

“In a 20-year career as a singer-songwriter Dan Hubbard has released 9 studio albums, toured extensively throughout the United States, and shared the stage with countless national acts, including Martin Sexton, Andrew Combs, and Nikka Costa. Influenced by the likes of Tom Petty, Hubbard’s music has been acclaimed as “beautiful, powerful, and often seemingly effortless.” (Independent Clauses)

Hubbard—an Illinois Native and the youngest of three boys—credits his brother D.J. with inspiring him to write. “He played me these songs he had written while he was off at college, and I was blown away. Seeing his talent made me believe I might have it in me too.” he says. At age nine, Hubbard’s other brother, Erik, died from brain cancer when he was just 12. By 15, Dan discovered guitar as an outlet. “It became a way for me to properly mourn him, and heal.” After graduating from Illinois State University, Hubbard knew he wanted to pursue music, and he’s been honing his craft ever since.

Dan’s 2021 release, a 5-song EP titled Fall in Love Again (Quarantine Lullabies), is the product of a year spent mostly in quarantine with his family as they navigated the fear and uncertainty of the global pandemic. For Hubbard the album also marked a return to his recording roots. “When I first started making records almost 20 years ago, I recorded them myself wherever I could – my parents basement, or whatever house or apartment I was living in,” says Hubbard. Since 2008, however, he has opted for the bigger studio/producer experience, even venturing to Nashville in 2016 to record his self-titled release Dan Hubbard with acclaimed producer and 3-time Grammy Nominee Ken Coomer. In quarantine, Dan saw an opportunity to rediscover his passion for music by stripping everything down.

“I recorded every note using only my phone; no external mics. It was the most carefree, enjoyable recording experience I’ve had since I was 19,” says Hubbard. Apart from the advances in technology, recording at home 20 years later came with one other big difference…well, 4 big differences…a wife and three kids. “Rather than going off on my own and asking them to be quiet all the time, it made more sense to include them and make it a family project. It goes without saying that it made the process more meaningful and fun, but it also completely works with the subject matter,” Dan continued. “I will never forget the five of us gathered around the kitchen counter discussing the cover art and what this album would be.”

Fall in Love Again is currently available on all digital platforms.”

This will be Dan’s nightshop Debut, and we are honored to welcome him to our stage!

TAYLOR STEELE (Solo) (Effingham, IL) – Americana, Roots Rock, Soul

“Taylor Steele and the Love Preachers are a five piece Americana band with a powerful woman singer/songwriter as its driving force. Based out of Effingham, IL, they perform a powerful blend of roots rock with soul, country, blues, funk, and jam influences. The group performs original music written by Taylor Steele, 22 year old rhythm guitarist and vocalist, along with their interpretations of music by their favorite artists.

The Love Preachers have a way of sneaking up on you. The music is soulful, but sublime. The songs are smart and original, with roots that take you through rock and roll back to the blues of the old south. The vocal quality of Taylor Steele is reminiscent of great legendary singers like Bonnie Raitt and Mavis Staples but also modern stars like Susan Tedeschi and Gillian Welch. Stemming from these influences, she has immense control of her voice as she belts out notes and improvises, all while finding a beautiful balance between vibrato, tone, and projection. Just when you think you have it figured out, the Love Preachers start preaching, Taylor’s voice starts soaring, and they take you for the ride you won’t soon forget.

Searching, the new album from Taylor Steele and the Love Preachers, brings it all together and tells Taylor’s story in musical and poetic fashion. The songs are listed on the album chronologically starting with the song Jeremiah that she wrote when she was 13. The band traveled to Nashville, TN to record this record of 10 Steele originals and one Jimmie Rogers cover. They roped piano legend Catherine Marx into the project, which was recorded at County Q Productions and co-produced by Alison Prestwood. The result is an R&B inflected Americana album that sounds far beyond Taylor Steele’s 21 years.

Taylor Steele started singing when she was a young girl, joining her family on stage singing old time country music, 60’s/70’s bar band blues, and classic rock. She has covered a lot of ground since then and has spent a lot of time developing her self taught finger picking style. Growing up, she would get lost in discovering and covering folk/rock, old country, and soul/blues artists including Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, The Band, Hank Williams Sr., Son House, Jimmie Rodgers, Neil Young, and Bonnie Raitt. This has informed Taylor’s songwriting and provided her with a wide range of excellent influences from which to draw.

The band consists of lead vocals, acoustic resonator, and electric telecaster by Taylor Steele, lead guitar and vocals by James Stewart, bass and vocals by Garrett Burris, drums and vocals by Kyle Heynen, and keys by Nick Szwedo.

They have performed at Moccasin Creek Festival 2018, 2019, Summer Sundown Music Festival, 2018, 2019, Wander Down Music Festival 2019, Framily Fest 2018, 2019, Beesonstock Music & Arts Festival 2018, 2019 including 30 shows in 2019 after releasing Searching.
Taylor and her Love Preachers have performed alongside artists Amanda Anne Platt & the Honeycutters, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Neal Francis, Ben Miller Band, Chicago Farmer, The Mighty Pines, Aaron Kamm & the One Drops, and Micahlan Boney.”
